The Amalfi Coast, or Costiera Amalfitana, is a stretch of coastline on the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula of Italy, extending from Positano in the west to Vietri sul Mare in the east.

Ravello is one of the most attractive resorts on the Amalfi Coast, known for its majestic gardens and breathtaking views and romantic gardens. Ravello was an important town of the maritime republic of Amalfi, a producer of wool from its surrounding country that was dyed in the town and an important trading power in the Mediterranean area.

In 1996, Ravello was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Among its highlights: Villa Rufolo, built in 1270 by Nicola Rufolo, one of the richest Patricians of Ravello, has become a famous attraction for its garden. The villa was mentioned by Giovanni Boccaccio in his Decameron.

Villa Cimbrone, famous for an unique blend of Arab and Norman architecturefor and for its romantic garden that  hides the breathtaking Terrace of the Infinite. Its colourful gardens were immortalised by Richard Wagner in his final opera: Parsifal. In his honour takes place, every year, the popular summer ‘Ravello Festival’.
